Welcoming a newborn into the world is such a special time, and capturing those first moments at home creates memories that will last forever. As a newborn photographer in Kathleen, GA, I love offering in-home newborn sessions because they allow families to relax, be themselves, and include sentimental touches that make their photos even more meaningful.
Recently, I had the honor of photographing the Ury family in their home in Bonaire, GA. Their sweet baby James was just 9 days old, and it was such a joy to document their love and connection in a space filled with so many personal details.

The Beauty of In-Home Newborn Photography

One of the biggest benefits
of an in-home session is the relaxed atmosphere. There’s no need to pack up for a studio visit—everything you need is already at home. Plus, using your own space makes the photos uniquely you.
For this session, we spent time in the Nursery and the Master Bedroom, using the natural light from the windows to create soft, timeless images. Baby James was so calm and cozy, making it easy to capture both classic newborn portraits and intimate moments with Mom and Dad.
Sentimental Details That Make a Session Special
What made this session extra special were the personal touches the family included. They had a beautiful handmade blanket, lovingly crafted by a family member, which we used to lay baby James on for some of the sweetest photos. I love incorporating heirloom pieces like this because they add such a heartfelt element to the images.
Another special detail was a book gifted by their neighbor. I captured a few shots of baby James "holding" the book and with the book near him. These details may seem small now, but years down the road, they’ll hold even more meaning.
Another sweet gift was this knit hat and chicken stuffy.
Capturing the Small, Fleeting Moments
These little details are what make in-home newborn photography so special. It’s not just about taking pictures—it’s about preserving the emotions, the connections, and the tiny, everyday moments that make up this incredible chapter of life.
Some of my favorite moments from this session weren’t the posed ones—they were the in-between moments: the way Baby James curled up in Dad’s hands, the way Mom gently rocked them back and forth, the sleepy little smiles that appeared for just a second. And of course, the two pups had to join in on the session.

If you’re considering an in-home newborn session in Kathleen, GA or the surrounding areas, here are a few simple tips to make the most of your experience:
• Keep it cozy: Your home doesn’t need to be spotless! I focus on natural light and meaningful spaces.
• Dress comfortably: Soft, neutral colors always look beautiful and keep the focus on your family’s love.
• Be flexible: Babies run the show, and that’s totally okay! We take our time with feeding breaks, snuggles, and diaper changes as needed.
