There’s something incredibly special about celebrating your baby’s first trip around the sun.
It’s not just a milestone—it’s a celebration of every giggle, every snuggle, every first. And for me, as a photographer and a mama myself, there’s no greater joy than capturing that incredible moment in time when your baby is officially one.
My one-year cake smash sessions are more than just photos—they’re a keepsake of this fleeting, magical chapter. These sessions are designed to tell the story of your little one’s budding personality, their curiosity, their joy, and yes, their very first taste of cake.
Let me walk you through the beautiful process:
Set One: Simple, Sweet, and All About Them
We start with a clean, classic setup—usually a single-color backdrop paired with a sweet little outfit (you can check out my available client closet here). This first set is all about your baby’s personality shining through.
Maybe they’re full of silly expressions, or maybe they’re a bit more serious and observant. Maybe they’ve just learned to stand, or they’re still rocking that signature one-year-old crawl. However your little one shows up, we embrace it.
These images are timeless. They’re the ones you’ll frame on your walls or tuck into a memory book and smile over for years to come. No distractions—just your beautiful baby, exactly as they are.
Set Two: Let Them Eat Cake!
Next, we move into the most fun part of the session—the cake smash! This set is where creativity and celebration collide.
Before the session, I work with you to design a custom backdrop that reflects your little one’s birthday theme, favorite colors, or any special ideas you want to bring to life. Whether it’s a whimsical woodland theme, a favorite book, or a pastel balloon dreamscape, this set is truly unique to your child.
And then, of course, we bring out the cake.
This is where the magic (and the mess!) happens. Their little hands squish the icing, tiny toes curl with delight, and their sweet faces light up with curiosity—and often a little mischief. I love capturing the close-up details during this part: frosting-covered fingers, little feet kicking with joy, frosting smeared chins, and those wide-eyed grins.
Because it’s not just about the cake—it’s about the experience of tasting it for the first time, and the wonder of watching them explore in their own messy, joyful way.

The best part is that you don't have to worry about taking the mess home! My studio is equipped with a full bathroom with a bathtub that I have ready for every cake smash session.
